Is Your Blog Really a Blog? A blog post by Mike Clough – www.bestbizpractices.org

This is a blog post by Mike Clough at http://www.bestbizpractices.org I thought it was very interesting, I hope Mike doesn’t mind me ‘re blogging’ his post.

What kind of a question is that? Of course it is a blog. What else could it possibly be? Well, a blog has a completely different function than a website. However, when a blog is used for website functions it looses it value as a blog and in fact becomes just another website.

To better illustrate my point, let’s take a look at the differences between a blog and a website. I will borrow a table from a friend of mine, Tom Pick, who blogs over at Webbiquity:

Website Blog
Static Content Updated Frequently
Formal / Professional Informal
One Way Broadcast Interactive/Dialog
Transactional Informative
Product / Services Industry / Customer Issues
Almost Mandatory Not for everyone

10 Ways To Start Taking Control Of Your Life

As I am going through a bit of a ‘downer’ at the moment, suffering from ‘brain freeze’ and losing my motivation to write my eBook, I found these helpful tips to help me and hopefully help you if you ever feel the same way.  They are practical suggestions but they may shift the brain into a more positive thinking pattern:

1. Take Good Care of Yourself

It’s much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.

2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For

Stresses and challenges don’t seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.

3. Look for the Proof Instead of Making Assumptions

John Thornhill’s Marketing Masterclass – Week 17

Hi, everybody sorry I have not reviewed John Thornhill’s Marketing Masterclass lessons for a few weeks.  I have been suffering from ‘brain freeze’, I am sure it is just a phase I am going through, just one of those phases we go through in life I suppose, we get over it, get around it or we go through it.  Most of the time we come out of the phase a much stronger person.

Anyway, let’s get on with my review of Masterclass training for week 17.  This week we receive 3 videos and the first thing that John says in the first video is “By now your product should be just about complete”.  Hearing this made me feel a bit upset because with my ‘brain freeze’ phase I am having a little trouble writing my eBook, I know what I have to do but I just can’t seem to get my act together and keep the writing going.  John certainly made me feel better when he said not to panic if our product was not 100% complete.  Next week is the start of the Sales Page creation so the pressure is on a little but as long as we are comfortable to go on with the course and then keep going back to finish the product, in a time that suit.

Tips to Increase Ranking and Website Traffic

SEO and RSS what do they mean?  Six months ago I had no idea what these letters stand for and even now I am still a little bit confused.  There is a lot to learn about internet marketing, websites and how to rank in the search engines but it all takes time and best thing you can do is research and learn and then research and learn some more.

In my researching I have found some basic principles to be enforced to increase website traffic and search engine rankings.

  • Create a site with valuable content, products or services.
  • Place primary and secondary keywords within the first 25 words in your page content and spread them evenly throughout the document.
  • Research and use the right keywords/phrases to attract your target customers.
  • Use your keywords in the right fields and references within your web page. Like Title, META tags, Headers, etc.
  • Keep your site design simple so that your customers can navigate easily between web pages, find what they want and buy products and services.
