If you are looking for ways to make money online, you are not alone. Each day, there are many individuals, just like you, who are searching for money making opportunities. While you would assume that this competition would have a negative effect on you being able to find work, it doesn’t always. While there are millions of people looking for these opportunities, there are also the same number of opportunities available; however, not all of them can be considered amazing.

Each year, a number of hardworking people are scammed out of thousands of dollars; don’t let yourself be one of them. If you are looking to make money online, you will have to do a little bit of research. This research is essential to finding the perfect business opportunity, especially one that is legitimate. While this research may be time consuming, it is important.  Not only will fully researching and examining all of your available business opportunities ensure that you will make money, but it will also protect you from being scammed.

A very quick post today. I have spoken before about how you need to focus on what direction you want to take in your business.  There is still one major concern that I have one area that I need to focus on urgently and it is one area that has caused me a lot of confusion and panic.  Finding a niche.  Do I go for something that has already saturated the internet but I know that people need/want this service or I do I focus on something that I have a passion for?  The internet is a place of endless information for everyone, some people need to know about dog training, other people about how to cure warts etc. etc.  I am starting to write down a list of all the things that I have a passion for plus things I don’t have a passion for but would like to know more about.  After I have completed my list I am going to do keyword searches to find out what are the most popular, not by how many websites there are with this keyword but by how many people are looking for this keyword.  If “people searches” outnumber websites it is only logical that that is something that I should look into.  Now I am not a keyword or niche expert, in fact I don’t know much about them at all but I do want to set up a website in the future that will help me, help other people. 

I still can’t believe that I have a blog on the internet.  At the moment everything seems to be going the way that it is supposed to and I am now up to Week 3 of John Thornhill’s Marketing Masterclass.  I just love how John explains and shows you everything in his videos.  I am quite sure if anyone had not even turned a computer on they would feel so comfortable with John’s instructions.  John also sends a complete written transcript of each video, so you can’t miss anything.

Task 1 this week was to “Register with AdSense” so that Google can add ads to your blog/website.  I have read about PPC before but never got too involved with it.  I am sure I will learn a lot more as I go along.  After filling in your details, Google will get back to you with your Publishing Code (more details to come).

Week 2 lesson for John Thornhills Marketing Masterclass arrived the same day and time as Week 1, it is so good to have things so organised and it certainly helps with my plans for the day.  I was really excited to receive my tasks for the week, but could I cope with the tasks or am I doomed to fail at getting anything on the internet?  You are probably thinking, what is she on about it is only the second week?  Well I can assure you that when you have had so many little things go wrong, you very easily lose confidence in what you are doing, or I do anyway!!!

Tuesday 2^nd February 2010 when I turned on my computer, I found an email from John Thornhill with my Marketing Masterclass Membership Information and a few hours later my first lesson was in my inbox.  It was so exciting, after struggling for so long not knowing what to do first, hear it was all there in front of me.  My lesson included a welcoming letter from John, a Checklist so I could see what I have done and what I haven’t completed and a Transcript of the lesson. Plus, Step by Step Video Instructions of what to do first with the ability to Play the Videos or Download them.

I mentioned previously about finding the right direction to take in your business and focusing on that direction, I also mentioned about finding a mentor.  How many emails (or phone calls) do you get from people offering to mentor you so that you can become the next millionaire? I know that I have received a lot over the years.  Can you believe them or trust them? This is very personal choice; you have to go with your ‘gut feeling’.  I would get phone calls from big guru’s assistants telling me that the big guru himself would like to help me start up my business.  I had all these questions going through my head. How did they get my phone number?  I’m in Australia, how are they going to help me?  What are they going to do to help me?  When, how and why are they going to help me? The most important question for me was, how much?  Being a one income family, we don’t really have the money to spend on training.  Yes I know, you have to spend money to make money as I was told in the phone calls and I became so confused about whether to borrow money to start my business, keep struggling to work it out myself or give it all way completely.   I had to turn down their offers of help because I didn’t have the confidence in myself to be able to achieve all the things they wanted me to do.
